House notes
One hundred per cent agave tequila, and nothing else will do: a mixto brings a sweetness the drink has no use for. Salt half the rim rather than all of it, so the drink can be taken either way from the same glass.
Straight up in a chilled cocktail glass. Salt on half the rim, if it is wanted at all.
Perfectly paired
- Grilled fish tacos
- Guacamole and warm tortillas
Where it comes from
MX · Disputed
Several competing claims exist across Mexico and the American border states from the 1930s and 1940s, and the drink also resembles the earlier Tequila Daisy. None of the claims is established, so no creator, venue or year is recorded.
